'Ao shidare' is a nice weeping Japanese maple with a blue-green hue to the leaf. 'Ao shidare' has a nice cascading habit forming an umbrella reaching 4-5 ft in height by 6-7ft in width in 15 years. Fall color is a bright golden yellow. "Ao" means blue-green while "shidare" means cascading or weeping. Ā 'Ao shidare' is a cultivar that dates back to lists in Japan in the 1700's. 'Ao shidare' makes a great focal point planting, accent planting, or would be great for growing in a patio container or deck pot if given good drainage.
