Gold Doubloonâ„¢ is one of the best of all gardenias. In warmer climates, gardenias are treasured for their heavily scented flowers. Gold Doubloonâ„¢ has large double white flowers that are extremely fragrant. The leaves are larger on Gold Doubloonâ„¢ too! Did I mention that Gold Doubloonâ„¢ is variegated? New growth is heavily variegated bright yellow, maturing to a bright yellow-green. This makes this a great shrub to brighten the darker spots in the garden. Gold Doubloonâ„¢ may reach 5-6 ft in height and width in 10 years. Gold Doubloonâ„¢ was brought back from Japan under the name ‘Ogon no hana’ by our good friend Ted Stephens and given the trade name Gold Doubloonâ„¢.Â
