This conifer is quickly becoming one of our favorite little trees at our nursery. 'Green Penguin' has a small narrow stature that makes it look like a little bright green penguin standing there in your garden. How fun is that! This is surely a tree that women, children, and everyone will love in the landscape.Ā
Found by Jim Lewis of J Farms, this little dwarf scots pine retains bright green new growth color year-round. The tight dense habit reaches 4 ft in height by 2 ft wide in 10 years at an average growth rate of 2-4 inches per year. While 'Green Penguin' is slow growing, it is very hardy. J Farms boasts that this little dwarf has out-performed many other trees in cold zones such as Duluth, MN. It also can do well in Zone 8, which makes this tree excellent for most gardens across the United States.Ā
